How long does it take to stop social security direct deposit?

I have a banking emergency and my account had to be closed. I am scheduled to get my social security disability payment on the second Wednesday of the month. If I call them first thing Monday morning will it be too late to stop my direct deposit until I get my accounts straightened out?|||Direct deposit is usually at the bank about a week before it is posted.|||Yes. Never close your account with direct deposits going into it. It will get bounced back to the Treasury and will probably take 6-8 weeks to get it now. Call them first thing anyway though because they will need info of another account to put the checks in from now on. If you need the money sooner, to pay your rent or something, they can issue emergency payments in some cases right in the office that day. They hesitate to do that and, depending on who you talk to, they might not be willing to at all, but it's worth a try.
