I live in NH, my landlord took 76 days to return security deposit, what can I do?

I made numerous phone calls requesting security deposit and bank statement showing amount accrued over the last 15 years...I never received bank statement, just a check with $11.00 interest. The security deposit was for $220.00. Is there anything I can do? They should have given me my money and bank statement back within 30 days?|||11 interest on 220 is about as much as you should expect.|||Read your state statute regarding landlord/ tenant laws. You will find the answer to your question there. *Most* states stipulate 30 days for the return on your security deposit.

If your state does say 30 days, you can sue your former landlord for any amount that was deducted for repairs and possibly 3X the amount of the deposit.|||Kiss the ground and be happy you got it. It will cost you more to sue in small claims court. Law allows a landlord to take 1/4% for administration purpose and since savings accounts pay less then that you are not even entitled to interest.
