It is possible that they have mistyped someone else's account number and you are getting their money. Speak to your bank before Star try to claim the money (and more) back.|||Open a new account and close the old one IMMEDIATELY. If you continue to put money in that account, these people will continue taking it.
May I offer you a small wisdom for using bank account information over the internet? Purchase a Green Dot card to use for all of your internet shopping. In that way, the only money you will place on the card is the amount of the purchase that you plan to make.
Any way you look at it, it hurts to lose money. But if someone should access the Green Dot card illegally, at least your main bank account is not compromised and the thief will have access to only a limited amount of money.
Cyber criminals do not require your signature; all they need is your name and part or all of your bank account information.
Never be curious or tempted by money that mysteriously appears in your bank account! Always assume that someone is out to empty your bank account because 9 times out of 10, that's what's going on!
When the $200 appeared in your account you should have immediately reported it to your banking institution, filled out a report and closed that account.
Report the theft to your bank and let them know that you did not authorize any withdrawals by this company. If you have been doing business with this bank for a while, ask them to replace the money that you've lost. As soon as the old account is closed, open a new one and again, think twice about putting your personal, banking information on the internet. (You should also consider reporting this company and this incident to your State Attorney General. Maybe others have been scammed by these people and if that's the case, the A.G. may open an investigation and put the word out about these criminals).
Thieves are much more high tech, much faster and can outsmart most of the security programs that guard most internet sites. A crook has no regard for you nor the safety claims of the web-site host.
