My very trusting husband gave a handyman a deposit on some work, but now the gave hasn't come or call us back.

He found the guy on craig's list. The guy already deposited the check. Is there anything we can do to get the moey back? I don't know how much we gave him because my husband is so pissed and won't tell me. Can we arrest him? Any laws?
