Who do you call if your x~landlord won't return a deposit?

i moved to another state.landlord says he doesn't have the money. its been three months.|||In your case, a big guy named Vinny. Even if you win in court, he has no money.|||1st ask him for an itemized statement of all repairs. He can not--repeat can NOT charge you for normal wear and tear. He can not charge you for new paint, shampoo carpets and such. Only Damage. IF you see the invoice and feel that you are still due the deposit, file in small claims court in his area, you will need to appear. Best of luck.|||Deposits are hard to get back. Usually the landlord will use the deposit money to make any necessary repairs and to clean or repaint the premises for the next tenant. If he plans on returning your deposit, get it in writing.|||You have to sue him in small claims court. The landlord should have also provided you a list of what charges were made against the deposit for cleaning and repairs.
